Legends Of Tomorrow Will Have Two Versions Of One Of Its New Heroes, Get The Details
Legends of Tomorrow did a pretty good job of throwing the audience some curveballs during Season 1, and now we know that Season 2 will be doing the same thing with one of its new characters, as we'll get two versions of the hero Obsidian.
We already knew that Obsidian was coming to Legends of Tomorrow, but this is the first we're hearing that the character will be played by two different actors. When Obsidian's appearance was first reported, it was noted that Lance Henriksen (Millenium) would be playing the role, but now we know that a past version of the character will be showing up on Legends, and that incarnation of Obsidian will be played by Dan Payne (Strange Empire) as the team first meets him, according to TVLine.
Considering that Legends of Tomorrow is a time travel heavy show, it makes a lot of sense that the team will come to meet a past and future version of one of the Justice Society of America heroes. Actually, with the time travel aspect of the series, it's somewhat surprising that they haven't met more versions of characters that required two different actors to play the same role. The only time that's happened before was in the Season 1 episode where the team traveled to the Old West, where Sara and Kendra encountered a past version of Kendra who was in her sixties, and had lived in seclusion for many years. This isn't the first time they've met multiple versions of one character, though. After Hawkman died in the present, a version, played by the same actor, appeared in the far future, and eventually went off with Kendra. And, of course, since Season 1 baddie Vandal Savage was immortal, our heroes met him all throughout time, with the same actor playing him.
Legends of Tomorrow will also be playing with another character who we've seen before in The CW's Arrow-verse, though. Vixen, who was played in a CW Seed animated series and on Arrow by actress Megalyn Echikunwoke, will now be a version of the hero who is that character's grandmother, and will now be played by Maisie Richardson-Sellers. This incarnation of the character will be yet another member of the Justice Society of America.
Season 2 of Legends of Tomorrow will follow the team as they take on the duties of the Time Masters, who they destroyed at the end of Season 1 because of their dirty dealings with Vandal Savage. They are now charged with maintaining the integrity of the timeline, something that will surely lead them to accept help from heroes of all stripes, especially as they battle Nazis during WWII.
We can all get a look at the two Obsidians of Legends of Tomorrow when the show returns to The CW on October 13.
