Watch Melissa Joan Hart Slip Back Into Sabrina The Teenage Witch To Celebrate 20 Years
Sabrina, the Teenage Witch was one of the quirkiest and most entertaining shows on TV when it premiered in 1996. The series became a staple of ABC's TGIF roster as Melissa Joan Hart stole hearts as Sabrina. Now, Hart has revisited the role in honor of the big 20 year anniversary of Sabrina, the Teenage Witch. Prepare yourself for an awesome throwback to everybody's favorite 90s witch, and check it out!!
Let's be honest: how many of us wouldn't put "conjuring ice cream" at the top of our list of things to do with magical powers? Melissa Joan Hart couldn't have picked a more fun way to return to Sabrina Spellman on Instagram, and in a span of just five seconds. Once I stopped feeling like a dinosaur for realizing that Sabrina, the Teenage Witch was 20 years ago, I definitely watched the little video a few extra times. Melissa Joan Hart sure does still have it.
Of course, I would have been even happier if we'd gotten more than just those five seconds of Melissa Joan Hart back as Sabrina. Now that we're in an era of sequels, reboots, and revivals, there's a chance that I might get my wish. The actress recently came out and teased that there's a possibility that she'll reprise the role of Sabrina for a revival. Hart has evidently been taking meetings about reviving either ABC's Sabrina or Nickelodeon's Clarissa Explains It All, both of which helped her make a name for herself back in the '90s.
Nothing is certain at this point. Taking meetings about revivals is a long way from signing on for revivals. The teams behind the scenes at the various networks would need to collaborate in some big ways to bring what worked about the shows back to the small screen. Melissa Joan Hart was certainly the star of Sabrina, but what would the show have been without her witchy aunts and the black cat Salem? I know I wouldn't mind seeing what Harvey has been up to since the series finale.
There was actually talk about a reboot happening a few years ago when Sony was reportedly planning a Spider Man-esque origin story for a new incarnation of Sabrina. The character has been around since the 1960s, so Melissa Joan Hart's version of Sabrina is hardly the only one ever to exist. That reboot never happened, though, which meant that legions of TGIF fans didn't need to try to accept another actress in the role of Sabrina.
Stay tuned to CinemaBlend for news about any remakes and revivals that are in the works for the small screen, and join me in crossing your fingers that Melissa Joan Hart's 20-year tribute was only the first look at a Sabrina, the Adult Witch reunion. Don't forget to check out our fall TV premiere schedule to see what you actually can watch in the near future.
