Watch Will Ferrell Bust Out His Harry Caray Impression In Honor Of The Cubs
It's an amazing time for baseball fans. With the Chicago Cubs and the Cleveland Indians set to face off in the World Series, history will soon be made regardless of which team actually wins. Because neither team has won in years and years, the series is a monumental occasion, so much so that Will Ferrell even dusted off his impression of the late, great Harry Caray during a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! Check out the sketch below, and prepare to laugh.
Will Ferrell took to the stage during last night's episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! and busted out his classic Harry Caray impression in honor of the Chicago Cubs making it to the World Series. Entering with the manic energy that the character has become known for, Ferrell started off by throwing a platter of Wetzel's' Pretzels at members of the audience before diving into a hilarious dialogue with Kimmel. Covering a wide variety of topics -- from the World Series, to casual sex with Janis Joplin beyond the grave, to Donald Trump -- Will Ferrell delivered one of his best comedic performances in recent memory by bringing back one of his most iconic SNL impressions.
The beauty of the sketch is how faithful it is to Will Ferrell's initial take on the character almost two decades ago. From his tangents about completely nonexistent baseball games, to his lifelong affinity for Budweiser (the king of beers) Ferrell has kept his Harry Caray impression remarkably consistent over the years. The only thing that could have possibly made the scene work better would be if Harry Caray had asked Jimmy Kimmel whether or not he would eat a moon made of barbecue spare ribs.
It's no secret that Will Ferrell has created several amazing characters over the years. During his time on Saturday Night Live he brought numerous classics to live -- from Inside The Actors Studio host, James Lipton, to A Night At The Roxbury's Steve Butabi. However, his take on the legendary Cubs announcer has easily become one of his most famous characters of all time. Not only did Harry Caray become an instant fan-favorite in the hilarious Space, the Infinite Frontier sketch, but also Will Ferrell actually famously used the impression during his Saturday Night Live audition to secure his place on the cast of the series. Harry Caray is one of the comedian's oldest and most beloved characters, so it's great to see him back on television.
With the Cubs and the Indians about to face off in a historic World Series, we sincerely hope that this isn't the last we see of Will Ferrell's Harry Caray.
