Law & Order: SVU has been sans Elliot Stabler for quite a few seasons, now, but fans of the long-running NBC series still remember the heyday of the show when the partnership between Stabler and Olivia Benson was a huge highlight of the drama. Luckily, both Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni seem to get along and even though they are no longer on the series together, they still clearly enjoy one another's company. In fact, the two recently reunited for a festive selfie. You can take a look at the adorable photo, below.
Man, Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni look pretty great for two people who are or were on a show that is currently in its 18th season. The two reunited for a holiday photo that Meloni dubbed as "friends at xmas," and while there's no tell-tell tree in the background, the two look as if there's plenty of holiday cheer. The only thing that might make us more cheery personally would be if this were a true Law & Order: SVU reunion, but we may not be getting exactly what we want for Christmas this year.
If you've been keeping tabs on Law & Order: SVU, Mariska Hargitay is still rocking out, despite rumors that she may leave cropping up every now and again on the series. The show is in its 18th season on NBC, which is pretty incredible, although Hargitay lost her original partner all the way back in Season 12. As for Christopher Meloni, a potential Law & Order: SVU return was discussed by showrunner Warren Leight mentioning he'd like to see the actor back on the show. Unfortunately, he later stated he really only wanted Elliot Stabler back in the fold for the series finale, and when SVU was renewed, the show no longer had a reason to ask him to come to the set.
Christopher Meloni himself later stated that he had "heard the rumors" along with everyone else and was not on board for a Law & Order: SVU official appearance. That doesn't mean he'll never be on board to come back, but it's certainly not happening soon. Therefore, the closest we are going to get is this one selfie of two of TV's greatest stars back together again.
While Mariska Hargitay can still be found on NBC, Christopher Meloni has been in a lot of other TV projects in recent years. His most recent big TV projects have been Wet Hot American Summer: First Day At Camp and Underground, but he also did appear in an episode of Drunk History over at Comedy Central. He's also in the upcoming movie Snatched.
