Watch The Stranger Things Kids Watch Their Super Bowl Commercial
If you thought you were excited to see the trailer for Season 2 of Stranger Things, you can't imagine how hyped the child actors were to see it! Netflix had mentioned that a full trailer for the next season of the series would be appearing during Super Bowl LI. The trailer was about the most exciting thing happening at the moment as the Atlanta Falcons were thoroughly trashing the New England Patriots, who ended up making a historical comeback, but this isn't about them. I'm not sure any of the children on the show are big fans of the NFL, but if they weren't they had reason to be excited as they watched the television to get their first look at the Season 2 trailer of Stranger Things. Luckily for us, a camera was rolling to catch most of the children's reaction as they watched alongside the rest of the world.
As you can see, the Stranger Things kids are just as electric and excited as Winona Ryder was at the SAG awards. Because the video is a little low in quality, you may be a little confused as to who you're watching in the frame. From left to right we have Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin) Millie Bobbie Brown (Eleven), Finn Wolfhard (Mike), and another younger girl who I'm not sure is part of the show or perhaps just a family member. I'm not sure where Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas) is, maybe he left early because he is a Patriots fan? If so then he missed a crazy game!
I absolutely love the sheer excitement in the room when the Season 2 trailer hits. Everyone jumping up and down, recapping every moment as it happens, and giggling every moment in between. I'm torn on my favorite moment in this video. For me, it's either the moment when the whole room falls silent when Eleven first appears on screen, or when it's over and one of the kids (I'm not sure who) starts doing an acapella take on the Stranger Things theme while everyone jumps up and down.
The Stranger Things kids have every right to be excited as they all looked like complete badasses in that trailer! I love the scene where Dustin, Mike and Lucas are heading into the school in Ghostbusters attire. Having just rewatched the trailer, I'm just now noticing that giant "upside-down" looking thing that's looming over what looks to be the small town of Hawkins, Indiana (which isn't a real city in Indiana I've learned recently). You'll notice the creature also appears in a drawing in the beginning of the trailer and was drawn presumably by Will Byers (played by Noah Schnapp), whose drawings clued the kids into the existence of the upside down initially. I'm glad to see Will is going to play a larger part in Season 2 as I thought he kind of got ripped off compared to the other kids in terms of media attention.
Stranger Things Season 2 is set to premiere on Halloween, which means it's going to be a long eight months of waiting. No need to torture yourself, however, as there are plenty of great shows premiering every week. Be sure to check out our midseason premiere guide to find something new to follow until then! If you missed the Stranger Things Season 2 trailer, or maybe just didn't get as good of a look as you thought, be sure to check it out on the next page!
