Check Out The First Look At The Flash's New Gorilla Character

The Flash has never shied away from introducing some pretty bonkers characters, and one of its craziest is the giant telepathic meta-gorilla known as Grodd. The big guy was banished to the mysterious Gorilla City on Earth-2 back in Season 2. Team Flash will soon cross paths with Grodd once more, but he won't be their biggest problem. They'll also face off against the leader of Gorilla City, who is none other than a giant angry white gorilla named Solovar. We now have our first look at Solovar, and it's a doozy. Check it out!

Key members of Team Flash will cross over to Earth-2 on a mission to rescue Harrison Wells, who is being held at Gorilla City. They'll encounter Grodd, but he won't have the most villainous intentions toward them anymore. In fact, he'll approach Barry, Cisco, Caitlin, and Julian when they make it to Earth-2 to convince them to join him in fighting against Solovar (voiced by Keith David). The Gorilla City leader has big plans to attack Earth-1, and that is evidently something that Grodd doesn't want any more than Team Flash does.

Comic fans may be surprised to learn that Solovar will be a bad guy. The character from comic lore was actually an ally of the Flash and a just ruler of Gorilla City. When news broke that we'd be seeing Solovar in a Season 3 two-parter, many expected that Team Flash would join Solovar in battling Grodd, which would have only been fair. After all, they sent Grodd to Earth-2, so he would have been their mess to help clean up. The reveal that The Flash's Solovar will be a villain with evil intentions toward Earth-1 means that the two-parter will probably take viewers in some seriously unexpected directions.

The first half of the two-parter will take place on Earth-2, and Solovar will quite literally get his hands on the Scarlet Speedster. Take a look!

If Barry is caught and carried around like a doll by Solovar in the first half of the two-parter, I think it's safe to say that the alliance with Grodd will need some fine-tuning before they can stop Solovar from attacking Earth-1. Barry has certainly been thoroughly trounced by villains before, but rarely on a different Earth, and never with the looming threat of a gorilla invasion. The stakes are as high as they've ever been for Barry when it comes to defending his Earth, and we can only hope that he saves the day without too much collateral damage.

We already knew (thanks to Barry's grisly trip to the future) that Central City on Earth-1 would probably sustain some degree of damage due to gorillas. Now we can only wait and see whether Team Flash can limit the destruction and possibly change the timeline for the rest of Season 3. Tune in to The CW on Tuesday, February 21 at 8 p.m. ET to see the first half of The Flash's gorilla-filled two-parter, and don't forget to take a gander at our midseason TV premiere schedule.
