SNL Is Adding Another Woman To The Five-Timers Club
Few modern performers are quite as versatile as Scarlett Johansson. The Black Widow actress has proven time and time again that she is one of the most capable action stars working in Hollywood today, but she is also no slouch when it comes to comedic timing. That sense of humor has served her well as the host of Saturday Night Live several times over the course of her career, and it now seems that she has officially signed on to make yet another guest appearance on the show -- allowing her to enter the highly coveted Five-Timers Club.
NBC has officially announced that Scarlett Johansson has signed on to host an episode of Saturday Night Live in March to coincide with the upcoming release of her new action movie Ghost in the Shell. Her stint will air on March 11, with Lorde serving as the episode's musical guest. This development marks Johansson's fifth time serving as a host of SNL since her first appearance on the series in 2006, meaning she will soon join the very exclusive Five-Timers Club -- which consists of Candice Bergen, Tina Fey, and Drew Barrymore.
What makes this record even more impressive is Scarlett Johansson's relatively young age. At 32-years-old, she will likely remain an active focal point in Hollywood for years to come, and that means that she could very easily break the record for most hosting gigs by a woman. Drew Barrymore currently holds the record with six hosting stints, so it would not take much more for Johansson to run away with the record.
There has arguably never been a better time for Johansson to return to the sketch series for another appearance. Saturday Night Live has experienced something of a renaissance in recent months (primarily due to the surge in politically charged sketches), and the show is currently seeing its best ratings in years. With a superstar like Scarlett Johansson slated to helm an upcoming episode, it seems highly unlikely that this trend will slow down anytime soon.
We will bring you more information related to Scarlett Johansson's fifth hosting stint on Saturday Night Live as more details related to the upcoming episode become available to us. Her episode for the iconic sketch series will air on March 11, and you can catch Ms. Johansson in Ghost in the Shell on March 31.
