A New Flash Speedster Is Coming To Next Week's Episode
The CW's Flash has been able to explore some pretty wild characters over its three seasons so far. Between the different timelines, alternate realities, parallel worlds, and unpredictable superpowers, there's really no guessing what kind of metahumans will turn up each week. That said, Barry has run into kind of a lot of speedsters, and they've all brought their own quirks and tricks to the superspeed game. A brand new speedster will soon make his Flash debut, and he definitely has a different look than most of our other speedy metas. Check him out!
It seems that the comic speedster known as Accelerated Man will appear on The Flash in the second half of the Gorilla Grodd-centric two-parter. The photo indicates that he'll have some kind of interaction with Gypsy, who was last seen on The Flash opening a breach to bring Grodd and his army of gorillas from Earth-2 to Earth-1. Accelerated Man doesn't look too happy with Gypsy, so there's a good chance that he'll be on Team Flash's side in the upcoming battle of man vs. gorilla. Then again, it's hard to see much of Accelerated Man's face, so who knows? Maybe he's grinning underneath his mouth covering.
If this version of Accelerated Man is at all like his DC Comics counterpart, he'll probably be one of the good guys in Central City. In DC lore, Accelerated Man is the Earth-19 version of the Flash. If this version of the character is also the speedster of Earth-19, the big question is what brought him to Earth-1. Grodd has only shown interest in bringing war to Earth-1 to get revenge on Team Flash for banishing him to Gorilla City, so Earth-19 likely isn't in any especial danger. He may just pop over to lend Barry a hand with corralling the gorillas, or he could be pulled to Earth-1 by Gypsy or even Cisco. It's hard to say at this point.
Personally, given that we currently have the Flash, Kid Flash, Jesse Quick, Savitar, Reverse Flash, and even Black Flash zipping around The CW's DC universe, my fingers have been crossed that we'd soon see more metas that aren't speedsters. Still, I'm looking forward to see how Accelerated Man compares to Barry. At the very least, I expect some kind of commentary from Cisco about the name "Accelerated Man," and I'd love the know the rationale behind the flight goggles and scarf as part of his suit. Either he's a man who likes to accessorize or Earth-19 is on the cutting edge of friction-proof neckwear. We'll have to wait and see.
Tune in to The CW on Tuesday, February 27 the see the second half of the Gorilla Grodd two-parter on The Flash, and don't forget to take a look at our midseason TV premiere schedule to see what else you can watch on the small screen in the coming weeks.
