The Flash Has Added A House Actor In An Intriguing Role
With Season 3 of The Flash chugging along through time and space, a new casting announcement has us even more excited for the future. It appears as though Team Flash will meet a new character before the end of the season who will have a recurring role on the show, as former House actress Anne Dudek has joined the series to play a character whose description provides more mystery than definition. If nothing else, Dudek's character on The Flash sounds far less cut-throat and tragic than Dr. Amber Volakis!
Anne Dudek will be joining The Flash as Tracy Brand, and her addition is set to happen beginning with Episode 20, which is three episodes away from tonight's current musical crossover event. TV Line tells us Tracy is a "smorgasbord of quirky idiosyncrasies," and is some type of future genius. That's great and all, but what exactly does that mean?
It sounds like The Flash is getting its own Felicity Smoak, and while many of you will undoubtedly have different opinions about how that would work, there are more important questions to ask. Whoever Anne Dudek's Tracy is, there's a good chance that she's going to be a key factor for the action of Season 4. With her role recurring and her introduction coming just 3 episodes before the finale, you have to think we're getting introduced to her this close to Season 4 for a reason. Considering every finale of The Flash so far has led into the next season premise, it only makes sense that Tracy Brand is a big part of what's in store for next year.
The name Tracy Brand does not mean much historically to The Flash franchise, but her genius character description might. Past reports have indicated that Season 4 of The Flash will not feature a speedster main villain. With the "future" aspect of Anne Dudek's character Tracy Brand catching eyes, you have to wonder how it will be known she will be a genius without someone first seeing it in the future? Are we about to see some crazy Terminator scenario in The Flash? Let's hope so because the "speedster of the season" formula is beginning to wear out its welcome for me.
Regardless of what Tracy Brand's story will hold, it will be nice to see the talented Anne Dudek join the team. I've loved Tom Felton's Julian on The Flash in Season 3 (hopefully he sticks around but he probably won't), and if Dudek's Tracy is even half as good as his, then I'll be more than satisfied. In addition to her upcoming role on The Flash, Dudek also appears on SyFy's acclaimed series The Magicians which is currently in Season 2.
The Flash is all new tonight at 8 pm ET on The CW. Check the actress out on there soon, or if you're just looking for something to pick up when The Flash ends, head over to our midseason premiere guide and summer TV schedule to see what's on the list as we slide into the oncoming seasons.
