What's Cancelled And Renewed On Cable TV And Streaming? Here's The Rundown
Here in the age of Peak TV, it's almost impossible to keep track of even a small percentage of the endless stream of shows that are coming and going on a weekly basis. Until modern science comes up with a third eyeball that is always able to see what TV's future looks like - or some other absolutely necessary biological advancement - then it's a shade harder to figure out which of your favorite shows have been renewed and which ones have gotten the axe. That's where we come in.
Below, you'll find a fairly exhaustive rundown of the renewal and cancellation status (or lack thereof) for all the biggest shows on cable TV and various streaming services like Netflix and Hulu. To keep things fairly simple, we've categorized them all by genres, and we'll be keeping things updated as news gets announced, so remember to keep looking back every time you're wondering about FX's latest dramas or HBO's docu-series. And when you're done with cable and streaming, don't forget to head to our full rundown on how all the network shows are doing, such as The Big Bang Theory and Scandal.
Horror and Sci-Fi
Television has seemingly never been a more welcome medium for genre programming, with more outlets than ever willing to take on dark and scary narratives and far-scoping science fiction stories. And it's hard to talk shit against horror when AMC's The Walking Dead has been one of TV's biggest successes for years on end. Netflix and HBO made huge waves with Westworld and Stranger Things, but I think we should all give the biggest round of applause to Syfy for how quickly it turned itself back into a storytelling network. The Expanse and Channel Zero should last forever, but scroll down to see where both actually stand.

American Horror Story (FX) -- Renewed for Season 8 and Season 9, Season 7 still hasn't aired

Comedies
While the comedy scene over on the big networks hasn't been at its prime in a long while, the same cannot be said for cable and streaming, where it's an embarrassment of riches. And it doesn't matter whether you're talking about perfect 2016 additions like Donald Glover's Atlanta or one of the longest running cable comedies of all time, such as It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. These days, a cheap comedy will stay on the air longer than a pricey drama will, and we should all be thankful that it doesn't take a huge budget to earn laughs. Here are all the shows you will and won't be chuckling with over the following months.

Reality Shows, Talk Shows, Docu-series, Other
And when you're done with all the scares, the chortles, the suspense and the tears, all that's left to do is...well, everything else. From the low-brow reality shows in which socialites squabble to biographical looks at the world's greatest chefs to John Oliver's wicked sharp satire, TV can sometimes be at its most enjoyable when nothing is scripted and no niches are left non-excavated.
