Watch Bill Nye Sort Of Explain Stranger Things
One of the biggest and most unexpected small screen hits of 2016 was none other than Netflix's Stranger Things, which introduced viewers to a cast of small town Indiana folks who find themselves facing monsters, shady government men, and maybe even a multiverse. Some of the twists and turns were pretty confusing; luckily, Bill Nye is on hand to help clear things up... in a way. Nye took a break from his science shenanigans on Bill Nye Saves the World to sort of explain Stranger Things, and the explanation is definitely worth the watch. Check it out!
In the video from Netflix, Bill Nye picks up where Stranger Things' Mr. Clarke left off in his explanation of the multiverse theory. Nye is much less definitive about the multiverse than Mr. Clarke was; in fact, he makes it clear that cosmologists and astrophysicists still debate whether or not a multiverse is actually possible. He can't rule out whether the expansion of the universe has resulted in a multiverse as shown in Stranger Things, but he also can't confirm it.
That said, Bill Nye seems to understand that there are some things that can transcend even the most advanced science. The true love story of Stranger Things wasn't between Nancy and Jonathan or Eleven and Mike; no, the real love story was between Eleven and her Eggos. Nye is on board with the theory that El will cross any boundaries of space and time if it means getting more of her beloved frozen waffles. Given Eleven's grocery store rampage in Stranger Things Season 1, I'm inclined to agree with Bill Nye. I shudder to think what would happen to anybody who tried to permanently stop El from her waffle fix.
Bill Nye has become a significant presence on Netflix recently due to the debut of his new program, Bill Nye Saves the World. It's a combination of talk show and science series that features Nye and a slew of celebrity guests getting to the bottom of what makes the world go. It's only fitting that he weighed in on one of Netflix's other hot properties. At least it's something for Stranger Things fans to enjoy. Season 2 won't debut until October 31, so we can use all the morsels of coverage from Netflix that we can get.
Both Stranger Things and Bill Nye Saves the World are currently available streaming on Netflix. Take a look at our 2017 Netflix premiere schedule to discover other streaming series.
