Nasim Pedrad is heading to a new show! After leaving Saturday Night Live, the comedy veteran has appeared on a number of television shows, most recently as a recurring character on New Girl. That show is currently sitting hard on the bubble, so it looks like Pedrad is taking her talents elsewhere to a show, that you could say, is out of this world. Pedrad will be appearing the new season of the TBS comedy People of Earth.
Saturday Night Live veteran Nasim Pedrad has landed a role as a regular on Season 2 of People of Earth. The TBS comedy returns this summer, where Pedrad will play a Special Agent Alex Foster, a smart, dedicated FBI investigator getting a second chance after recently being disgraced. Alex arrives in the town of Beacon, NY on the hunt for local newspaper owner Jonathan Walsh (Michael Cassidy), who is wanted for white-collar crimes. It's almost a certainty that at some point she also finds some aliens and gets drawn into the central conflict of the show.
Executive produced by Conan O'Brien and Greg Daniels, People of Earth centers on journalist Ozzie (Wyatt Cenac), who travels to the town of Beacon in upstate New York to write a piece on a local support group for alien abductees or "experiencers." Ozzie soon finds that all is not as it seems when he begins to remember buried memories of his own abduction, and that the support group isn't as crazy as it seems. The comedy is a critical success, ranked as one of cable's top 10 new comedies among adults 18-49 for 2016 and an average of 4.2 million viewers per episode in its first season.
In addition to SNL, Nasim Pedrad's credits include roles on Scream Queens, Mulaney, and New Girl. Pedrad has been a recurring character on New Girl for the past 3 seasons; she plays Winston's partner LAPD, Aly. The two of them got engaged by the end of Season 6, but if Pedrad is starring on People of Earth, maybe that doesn't spell such good news for Season 7 of the Fox comedy.
You'll be able to watch Nasim Pedrad on People of Earth when Season 2 airs later this summer. As always, make sure to keep it at CinemaBlend for all of your television news. To learn about more returning shows, make sure to take a peek at our summer TV premiere schedule!
