Grey's Anatomy Just Answered Two Huge Questions And Still Managed An Insane Cliffhanger
Warning: major spoilers ahead for the penultimate episode of Grey's Anatomy Season 13, "True Colors."
The end of Grey's Anatomy Season 13 is fast-approaching, and "True Colors" had some major surprises in store for those of us who thought that the show would save all the major action for the finale. The episode managed to pack two major reveals and one huge cliffhanger into one hour of television. We learned what's going on with Jo's husband, the status of Owen's sister, and saw one of the good doctors of Grey Sloan get herself into terrible danger.
The craziness began when two members of the military showed up at Owen's place to tell him that a discovery had been made about the fate of his sister Megan, who has been missing ever since her helicopter was shot down while she, Owen, and Nathan were in active duty. It was never clear what happened to her, and Owen eventually gave up on finding her. Well, the military paid him a visit to tell him that she was found and she is very much alive.
Owen's immediately went into a spiral of guilt and PTSD as he realized that while he gave up on his sister and moved on with his life, she was alive and possibly being tortured. He couldn't even believe it was her at first, but Amelia managed to get in touch with an army hospital that was treating her. Teddy vouched for the fact the woman is Megan, and Amelia discovered that she was being transferred to the U.S. Megan is on her way home, and Owen (and Nathan, who is currently mooning over another woman) will get to meet her again for the first time... unless something goes terribly wrong in the finale, which could happen. This is Grey's Anatomy we're talking about.
In another corner, we finally discovered the identity of Jo's abusive husband, Paul Stadler (who was indeed played by Matthew Morrison of Glee fame). Alex discovered him at a medical conference in Los Angeles, and good old Dr. Karev spent most of the episode imagining different scenarios in which he confronted Paul. In one, he attacked Paul and beat what can only be qualified as "the bejesus" out of him, until Alex was arrested and sent to jail. In another, he refrained from pummeling and settled for threatening Paul, and Paul reacted by searching out and murdering Jo.
At the end of the day, Alex didn't attack or confront or even shut a door in Paul's face. The two met very briefly, as they went for the same cab. Alex, seeming somewhat shellshocked, let Paul take the cab, but still managed to glare ominously at the man as he took off for the airport. Something tells me that this particular story with Alex and Paul is very much still in progress. I only hope poor Jo doesn't suffer because of it.
And that's not even all that happened! "True Colors" still managed to sneak in a huge cliffhanger. The main medical action of the episode concerned car accident victims Keith and Alison, who the docs deduced were in love or lust with each other. Keith woke up and immediately showed concern for Alison, wanting to be taken to her side so he could be with her when she woke up, despite his liver lac. For her part, Stephanie wanted to unite him with his lady love.

The big twist came when poor Alison woke up, terrified, and asked if she had killed Keith. As it turns out, Keith was not a man she loved. He was a man who broke into her car, pulled a knife on her, and forced her to drive to the woods where he intended to rape her. Alison decided that she would rather crash her car in an attempt to kill him than do what he asked. Jackson, Bailey, and Maggie were present to hear the confession, and they put the hospital into lockdown... which was not very good for Stephanie, who was trying to reunite Keith with Alison.
When Keith realized that the hospital was going into lockdown, he pulled a scalpel on Stephanie and tried to force her to get him to freedom, even slicing her on the throat a bit. They ended up locked in a wing with an adorable little girl. Keith decided to start a fire with a bottle of alcohol to set off the sprinklers and end lockdown; while he was doing so, Stephanie seized her chance to spray him with alcohol, which caught fire and set him ablaze!
And that's still not even all that happened! Keith fortunately burned to a crisp, but he did so right in front of some tanks of very flammable gas, which exploded in Stephanie's face even as she raced to pull him away. The episode ended on the giant explosion, and now we have a week to wait to discover what happened to Stephanie and what could possibly happen next. Oy.
