In addition to being an extremely successful comedian and movie star, Kevin Hart is a lover of basketball. Hart can sometimes be seen sitting courtside (as celebrities do) and enjoying the game, but as it turns out, he's there for more than just a love of the game. He's really just there to smash talk all the players, something he takes profound joy in doing. But when you continually tell off professional athletes, it's going to come back to bite you, as Hart recently revealed to Jimmy Kimmel in the video below.
Kevin Hart was a recent guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live! where the star shared a story about one of his experiences sitting courtside at a basketball game. Sitting so close to the action allows for almost unrestricted access to the players, and Kimmel noted that Hart always seems to be saying something to them. Hart explained:
What's Kevin Hart saying to these guys exactly? It's pretty much your basic trash talk, but Hart did offer one example of the time he exchanged playful words with the Houston Rockets' James Harden. Hart was in Philadelphia filming his movie Untouchables (co-starring Bryan Cranston) and went to the Sixers-Rockets game in his free time. Harden wasn't playing too well in the first quarter, which only gave Hart the ammo he needed.
But James Harden didn't take it laying down, telling Hart that he better remember what he said because he was about to "cook" him. Hart rebutted. Kevin Hart would later remember what he said, because Harden would go on to score 55 points and beat Hart's home team by 30 points. Maybe lighting a fire in the competition isn't always the best idea.
It's not super clear the exact game this happened in due to some differing details, but there just so happens to be a video where Kevin Hart crashes James Harden's post-game interview. Could this have been the game? Either way, it's pretty enjoyable.
You can currently hear Kevin Hart's voice in Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie, which is out in theaters right now.
