Rick And Morty Season 3 Trailer Is Finally Here, And It's Everything We've Been Waiting For
It seems like we've been waiting forever for more Rick and Morty. Season 2 came to an end on Adult Swim way back in October of 2015, and we've only gotten bits and pieces of a new season in the many months since. A trailer for the upcoming third season was finally released at a special event, and it's everything we've been waiting for over the past year. Check it out!
Rick may refuse to answer a literal call to adventure, but it looks like he and Morty are going to be into the wild and crazy action as much as ever in Season 3. In fact, it sounds like Rick himself will come around all the way in Season 3, if "Welcome to the darkest year of our adventures" is anything to go by. The whole Mad Max vibe in the trailer points to a lot of violence, a lot of shenanigans, and a lot of family craziness. Judging by the amount of froth around Rick's mouth in the trailer, Season 3 will also involve just as much drinking as ever, which is absolutely fabulous.
It was hard to tell exactly where the trailer was going at first. Still, any preview that starts with the question "Are you invisible and you're gonna, like, fart on me?" is automatic proof that creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland haven't lost their touch. I can't say how Rick ended up as a pickle -- although that's really not the strangest thing that has ever happened in that garage -- but it was an oddly perfect way to kick off the new footage. Of course Rick would somehow have transformed himself into a pickle and just waited until Morty showed up to enthusiastically share what had happened. Just... of course that would happen.
That opening shot wasn't even the weirdest pickle moment of the trailer. The prize for weirdest pickle moment has to go to this particular shot:
How did Rick go from a small pickle with no limbs to a giant pickle with arms, legs, a ribcage, and battle armor? I don't know and I can't wait to find out. Rick certainly looks ready for whatever dystopian reality Rick, Morty, and a shotgun-wielding Summer have found themselves in. Morty looks... less ready, which should be awesome.
Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland released the trailer for Season 3 at a big livestream event in Los Angeles, at which they also revealed the premiere date. Rick and Morty Season 3 will officially debut on Sunday, July 30 at 11:30 p.m. ET on Adult Swim. Our summer TV premiere schedule can point you toward what you can watch in the meantime.
