The local news -- as well as being an important source of information on the stories happening in your community -- is deeply entertaining. Anything can happen out there in the field, whether it's a bee flying directly into your mouth or getting splashed with projectile vomit. Because local news stations don't have the deeper pockets of some of the bigger news channels, they are subject to more technical issues and on-air snafus than they would probably like. Case in point, this one news reporter who was just DONE after a live technical mishap threw him off his groove.
Mistakes happen, but that doesn't mean we have to like them. Doug Fernandez is a reporter for KOAT Channel 7 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and while doing a broadcast, he kinda reached his professional limit. Fernandez was reporting on a shooting -- a serious thing you don't really want to screw up -- and tried to pass it off to the reporter in the field for more. The camera, however, remained on Fernandez. He stood there waiting, but this a live broadcast and they had to keep things moving. Assuming they weren't going to cut to the story, Fernadez tried to move on to other news, only for the footage to immediately cut to the reporter on the street.
When the field reporter begins talking, the footage cuts back to Doug Fernandez, who throws his papers over his shoulder in a move that is the epitome of "I am done with this shit." It's a fast and almost suspiciously deliberate cut, which makes me half-heartedly wonder if this was some kind of prank on Fernandez. Still, it was likely just a technical issue or an accidental slip of the finger. Fernandez's reaction is totally understandable and hopefully, he came back to finish out the day after cooling off a little.
If you're in the mood to chuckle out some more news fails, there isn't any shortage of them! Check out this one a reporter cracking up over an "emergency defecation situation" or this kid reported on a deadly toot and fart storm laying waste to the East Coast. There's also this one of a reporter absolutely losing it on the new Guardians of the Galaxy ride in Disney Land and an anchorman accidentally letting the F-word slip on air.
