One Game Of Thrones Character Detail Has Us Worried About Jon Snow
Warning: This post contains spoilers regarding the premiere and the potential future of Game Of Thrones Season 7. Read at your own risk!
As if Sansa Stark and Jon Snow's argument in front of the other houses wasn't enough to have folks shaken up during Game of Thrones' Season 7 premiere, one of those characters is getting major attention around the web, and it has us worried about Jon in particular. For the Game Of Thrones fans who missed it the first time, notice the hairstyle Sansa wears, which bears a striking resemblance to the hairstyle worn by Cersei Lannister in earlier seasons of the series. Is it coincidence, or a subtle tease from the showrunners that something terrible is about to happen?
The whole thing might have been glossed over as no big deal had the Game Of Thrones characters not already been discussing the King's Landing queen. Shortly after Jon Snow received a raven from King's Landing demanding he bend the knee to Cersei, Sansa sternly informed her brother that the queen is not to be trifled with and has murdered all who have crossed her. Somewhat unnerved by her words, Snow remarks that Sansa speaks about Cersei as if she admires her, to which Sansa replied with the chilling words, "I learned a great deal from her." Suddenly, Winter got a bit colder in the North.
That statement, which made some Twitter-using viewers suspicious, becomes even more powerful when Game Of Thrones fans hear about Sophie Turner explanation for how Sansa chooses her hairstyles. Turner, who has teased her character taking a darker turn, has gone on the record with Refinery 29 saying Sansa's hairstyles reflect the person she's attempting to mimic, learn from, or be inspired by. As for what Sansa learned from Cersei, Turner referenced the Lannister queen's penchant for manipulation as something picked up from Sansa's time as a captive, so she might be attempting to manipulate Jon Snow. Granted, her warning to be cautious of Cersei comes off more like sound advice than manipulation, but it's enough to make fans wonder if the Stark girl has a bigger play in mind.
Some Game Of Thrones viewers will undoubtedly write off Sansa's hairstyle choice as silly, but there's a little more weight to this one than some of the other wild theories that have been thrown our way. With Sophie Turner having already confirmed that her character bases her hairstyles on characters she admires, it appears Sansa is trying to get something from her brother, and won't soon finish. Whether that's good or bad remains to be seen, but other interviews with Turner seem to be pointing towards confrontation.
Game Of Thrones is all new July 23rd at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
