Watch All The Flash's Speedsters In Action In Exclusive Season 3 Blu-ray Clip
While The Flash fans may be having a rough go this summer without the Scarlet Speedster around to bring the drama, at least we aren't all trapped in the Speed Force like Barry is, right? Thankfully, The Flash: The Complete Third Season is arriving soon on Blu-ray and DVD, and the exclusive clip below brings together all of the show's speedsters for a montage that will give you a bigger jolt of energy than even the best espresso at CC Jitters.
Man oh man, The Flash has obviously never shied away from bringing DC's quick-footed comic book characters out for havoc and heroism in Central City, but Season 3 was a veritable "Who's Who" of the speedster realm. We had previously established characters like John Wesley Shipp's real Jay Garrick and Keiynan Lonsdale's Wally "Kid Flash" West, but Season 3 introduced even more lightning-fast characters, and it also brought Jesse Wells into the speedster fold in earnest. (Am I the only one who wants to see these characters play freeze tag at some point?)
The fast-paced fun definitely isn't just limited to the heroes, though. Season 3 brought The Rival into the mix to give Barry another reverse-taste of his own medicine. And Abra Kadabra's hand was quicker than everyone's eyes, thanks to nanotechnology, so he pops in the clip for a one-liner. But I think we all know that the most noteworthy speedster in Season 3 other than Barry was the god of speed Savitar. The metal-bound villain made life hell for all of Team Flash with the seemingly unchangeable future in which he killed Iris, and things didn't get any easier on everyone once the mystery behind his identity was revealed.
Savitar was responsible for one of my favorite shots from the series yet, when he plays catch with himself, using Jay Garrick as the roughly handled ball.
When it's all laid out in a quick burst like that, one is reminded just how little G-forces affect speedsters' faces. (One of many things we shouldn't overthink about this show.) As someone who probably had far too much fun as a kid hanging my head out of car windows, where the wind would make my mouth look like a deflated cake, I kind of wish those kinds of special effects were also part of The Flash's visual pastiche, but I get why it's probably more important to make the other parts of the scenes look as good as they can.
The Flash: The Complete Third Season will be available on Blu-ray and DVD on Tuesday, September 5, and fans will definitely want to rush out and pick it up. The sets contain all 23 episodes from Season 3 (naturally), and there are a bunch of featurettes, to dig into, including ones focused on Gorilla City, the "Invasion" super-crossover, the Rogues, the show's 2016 Comic-Con panel and more. We'll get to see executive producer Andrew Kreisberg talking with Kevin Smith, who directed the "Killer Frost" episode, as well as some deleted scenes and a gag reel. Which is hopefully Tom Cavanagh and Carlos Valdes getting goofy again.
After reliving The Flash Season 3, take note that Season 4 and its non-speedster villain are right around the corner, as it will make its big premiere on The CW on Tuesday, October 4, at 8:00 p.m. ET, followed by the Season 3 premiere of Legends of Tomorrow. And to see when everything else is hitting the small screen, including Supergirl and Arrow, zip over to our fall premiere schedule.
