While we still have a few months left until Luke Skywalker, Rey, Kylo Ren, and Finn return to the silver screen, there's still plenty more Star Wars on the horizon. Star Wars Rebels is currently poised to return for its fourth season, and a brand new trailer for the upcoming run of episodes has just debuted online. I warned you, didn't I? Star Wars Rebels has a great track record of delivering badass Star Wars-inspired action and drama, but Season 4 looks like it could be the best one yet. With the series poised to end with the conclusion of this run of episodes, essential storylines are going begin to wrap up -- leading us to believe that there will definitely be a sense of finality when the credits roll.
Although Star Wars Rebels tells its own unique and relatively self-contained story, Season 4 also feels particularly important for the ways in which the narrative will eventually build to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The Star Wars franchise has a unique timeline when compared to other franchises of a similar ilk, because it does not move forward in a linear fashion. These stories bounce around, and the time between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope has become ripe territory for exploration. With characters like Grand Moff Tarkin and Saw Gerrera playing integral roles in the upcoming narrative, it looks like the story will bridge even more than ever before.
Of course, Star Wars Rebels is only one aspect of the Star Wars universe that fans have to get excited about at the moment. On the big screen, Rian Johnson's highly anticipated The Last Jedi will debut in theaters on December 15, and the Han Solo spinoff movie (regardless of all of it is behind the scenes drama) is still aiming to blast its way into theaters next summer on May 25, 2018. With so much great content available on TV and at the movies, it is almost impossible to imagine the bygone era when we had to wait years in between entries in the Star Wars universe.
Star Wars Rebels will return for its fourth season on Sunday, October 16 on Disney XD.
