Gilmore Girls’ Creators Are About To Make A Bunch Of TV Shows That Aren’t More Gilmore Girls
Fans of Gilmore Girls have had a pretty good couple of years thanks to the debut of the four-part revival series on Netflix that brought Rory and Lorelai back to the small screen in 2016. Creators Amy Sherman-Palladino and husband Daniel Palladino brought the magic back once more, although reactions to the big finale plot twist were somewhat mixed. There's no word of whether or not another batch of Gilmore Girls revival episodes could happen, but Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino have signed a deal that will bring a whole bunch of new shows to the small screen via Amazon.
Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino have signed a multi-year deal with Amazon Studios that will lead to the development of an unspecified number of television projects. The projects will be exclusive to Amazon and could be pretty great, if their first Amazon project is any indication. The two collaborated to create The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which already has a lot going for it.
Amazon ordered a pilot for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which debuted on Amazon Video back in March. The execs at Amazon were clearly happy with what they got in the pilot, because Marvelous Mrs. Maisel landed an order for two seasons right off the bat. It's not difficult to understand why Amazon seems to have so much faith in the project, as the pilot currently has an average customer rating of 4.9 out of 5 stars. In fact, 93% of all the ratings are 5-star. If Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino are able to recreate the magic of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel with other projects, Amazon is slated to win big with this new deal with the married collaborators.
No details are yet available about what projects other than The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel might be in the works from Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino. We can only hope that we won't have to wait too long. Unfortunately, the new deal might mean that no more Gilmore Girls will happen on Netflix, at least not in the foreseeable future. The Gilmore Girls creators will be plenty busy with their new projects at Amazon, and there simply may not be the time to craft another batch of revival episodes, corral all the actors back together, and make another season. Still, who's to say that The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel or one of their other projects won't be the next Gilmore Girls?
We'll have to wait and see. The pilot for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is available streaming now, so check it out on Amazon to see what's in store with the new show. If you're now in the mood for some Gilmore Girls, the first seven seasons and the revival series are all available streaming on Netflix.
