Why You Should Be Excited About Outlander's Next Episode

The first five episodes of Outlander Season 3 kept Claire and Jamie painfully and heartbreakingly apart, and they only reunited in the very last moments of the latest episode. While the reunion was unexpectedly hilarious, it was probably far too quick for fans who have been waiting and waiting for the two lovebirds to get back together. Unfortunately, the show will not be back for another two weeks, but the show will make up for the wait with something special. The next episode will be supersized.

The next episode of Outlander will run for 74 minutes, which is a good 14 minutes longer than the typical episode. We definitely don't have to worry that the show is going to rush through the reunion. Jamie passing out cold at the sight of Claire in the printshop in the last episode was definitely funny after all the relative doom and gloom of the two separate, but it also wasn't a whole lot in the way of a reunion. News that the show will spend an extra chunk of time to do justice to their reunion should come as a relief to fans.

That said, we shouldn't expect the episode to be 74 minutes of steamy love scenes and sweet nothings. Jamie and Claire's reunion in the Voyager book wasn't exactly an uneventful affair, and Season 3 has followed the major parts of Voyager quite closely (with some key exceptions). There will undoubtedly still be obstacles in their path in the next episode, although at least we can bet that they'll tackle them together. While there are still some devastating losses undoubtedly in store for the two, hopefully they'll get some time to themselves without any worries.

There's more good news to help get through the weekend without any new Outlander. In lieu of a new episode, Starz will air a Season 3 marathon consisting of all five episodes of the season so far. Starting at 5 p.m. ET on Sunday, October 15, fans can tune in to Starz to re-watch everything that has happened in Season 3. It may not be the same as a new episode, but it's definitely something.

The supersized episode will be called "A. Malcolm" and air on Sunday, October 22 at 8 p.m. ET on Starz. Be sure to tune in to see Jamie and Claire back in action together on Outlander once Jamie wakes up from his swoon. There are still a number of new characters to be introduced, and we won't have to worry about dual narratives quite as much moving forward now that our leads are back together once more.
