The Blacklist Just Delivered A Twist We've Been Waiting For In An Unexpected Way
Warning: spoilers ahead for Episode 6 of The Blacklist Season 5, called "The Travel Agency." If you haven't watched yet, feel free to check out some of our non-spoilery articles until you get the chance to tune in.
The Blacklist has delivered some crazy (and bloody) twists throughout Season 5 so far, and it's been hard to predict just where the series will go. The big reveal that Red is Liz's father changed everything for just about all the characters, and there have been some big changes. Now, the latest episode has finally delivered a twist we've been waiting for and was starting to feel like would never come, although it definitely didn't happen as many of us may have expected. Tom and Liz have officially gotten married. Take a look at the nuptials!
If you'll notice in the image, Liz and Tom weren't exactly dressed to the nines in a formal setting for their wedding. Their earlier attempt at tying the knot took place back in Season 3, with Liz in a lovely white dress and Tom in a snazzy suit. There weren't a lot of people in attendance, but they each had a wedding party. While it wasn't a wedding extravaganza, and Liz was actually quite pregnant at the time, it was much more formal and traditional than the wedding that took place in "The Travel Agency." No, in "The Travel Agency," Liz dragged Tom to city hall, where they officially became husband and wife.
The city hall wedding wasn't the most traditional ceremony, but Liz and Tom aren't exactly the most traditional couple, and this wedding was actually a much bigger success that Liz and Tom's previous attempt at tying the knot. In Season 3, the ceremony turned into a barrage of bullets, and it even seemed for a time shortly after the botched wedding that Elizabeth had died. Nobody died and no shootouts commenced in this ceremony, so the city hall wedding was a smashing success by Blacklist standards!
Blacklist creator Jon Bokenkamp hinted not so long ago that figurative wedding bells might be ringing for Liz and Tom in Season 5, which might not have been conceivable if the Blacklist spinoff was still going with Tom on a whole other show. Unfortunately, the wedding that ended on Liz and Tom kissing without any bullets flying still has an air of tragedy to it considering what may be in store for Tom by the end of Season 5.
The Season 5 premiere ended on what seemed to be a flash-forward to Red shooting and killing Tom, almost certainly because of that mysterious suitcase that continues to bring danger to just about everybody in its proximity. If the flash-forward happens without any last minute saves for Tom, poor Liz may find herself a widow in the not-too-distant future. We'll have to wait and see.
You can catch new episodes of The Blacklist on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
