What One American Horror Story Star Wants To See In The Murder House And Coven Crossover
American Horror Story has seen some powerhouse actors come and go over the years, playing different roles in different seasons of the anthology series. Although the seasons have been mostly separate, there have been connections over the years, and a crossover between the Murder House and Coven seasons is in the works. Now, Coven actress Angela Bassett has revealed that she'd like to be a part of the crossover as Marie Laveau, and she has an idea of how it should work. Bassett had this to say:
If Angela Bassett has any say in what's going to happen in the upcoming Coven/Murder House crossover, then there will be some scenes expanding on Marie Laveau's origin story in the 1800s. TVGuide reports that Bassett has not yet spoken with producer Ryan Murphy about possibly reprising her role as Marie Laveau in the crossover season, and she wasn't even aware that the crossover was in the works until quite recently. Still, her enthusiasm for the project could bode well for fans who have been missing Marie in the seasons since Coven came to an end.
That said, even if Angela Bassett does return for another round of American Horror Story, she may not get her wish of seeing Marie Laveau in the 1800s. The house of Murder House wasn't even constructed until 1922. Even if the crossover takes place in the past rather than the present, the events might not be able to reach as far back as Marie Laveau's early days. Then again, flashbacks are always a possibility, and it's never wise to rule anything out when it comes to American Horror Story. Ryan Murphy continually finds new ways to surprise (and freak out) viewers; perhaps an origin of Marie in the Murder House/Coven crossover isn't entirely out of the question.
An official premiere date for the crossover season has not yet been announced, so we can't even say for sure if Angela Bassett will be available to appear. She is attached to a new show called 9-1-1, which is slated to air on Fox. As it happens, 9-1-1 will be produced by Ryan Murphy and also star Connie Britton of Murder House, so it's possible that something could be worked out.
We'll have to wait and see. New episodes of American Horror Story: Cult are still airing on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET on FX. For your other viewing options now and in the coming weeks, take a look at our fall TV guide.
