Spoilers ahead for the current season of Grey's Anatomy.
There's long running TV shows, and then there's Grey's Anatomy. The ABC medical drama is currently in the midst of its whopping 14th season on the network, with only a handful of original characters still working in the hospital. But many of the OG surgeons did last quite a while, like Sandra Oh's Cristina Yang. Oh departed the series after ten seasons, and fans have been hoping she'd return for a guest appearance in the near future. And while that isn't happening anytime soon, it turns out that Oh follows the show, and was very unhappy with one plot line. Namely, that Owen got married to Amelia Shepherd. Owen himself (actor Kevin McKidd) recently revealed this, saying:
We're good friends. When my character got married to Amelia, she got kind of jealous. She's like, 'No, that's not right. That shouldn't be the way. That shouldn't be what's going on.' I told her [to come back], and she was like, 'Maybe, maybe.'
While Cristina and Owen's marriage was far from idyllic, it looks like Sandra Oh doesn't want Dr. Hunt to get married to anyone else. Luckily for her, that seems to be exactly what's happening on the show at the moment.
Kevin McKidd's comments to ET about Sandra Oh are sure to echo the concerns of many hardcore Grey's fans. Because the relationship and eventual marriage between Owen and Amelia has never felt quite right to much of the fandom. She always seemed disinterested in him (sound familiar?), while also being a bit of a basket case. But unlike Cristina, Amelia didn't have the long relationship with Grey's fans to facilitate this choice. Plus, it did always seem like Owen and Cristina Yang were true loves-- she's just terrible at relationships.
It certainly looks like Owen and Amelia's marriage is all but disintegrated at this point. After getting a massive brain tumor removed, Amelia resolved Owen of their marriage, and his dedication to her. Amelia is attempting to figure out how much of her actions in the past few years have actually been motivated by the tumor, and which have been her own choice. Plus, it looks like Owen is moving on by smooching up on DeLuca's sister Carina at the moment. Just don't involve more wedding bells-- Sandra Oh might just lose it.
Despite being into its 14th season, Grey's Anatomy is showing no signs of stopping. This week will mark the show's whopping 300th episode on the air, and ABC has been getting fans amped up with a companion show focusing on the show's long tenure. And while it doesn't look like Sandra Oh is returning to the show anytime soon, she seems to be willing to come back for whenever a series finale happens.
