Without A Trace follows the members of the New York Missing Persons Squad of the FBI (in reality, this unit does not exist). In order to determine whether a victim had been abducted, murdered, or if they simply ran away, the members of the squad must used advanced psychological profiling methods to learn as much as they can about the victim and locate where he or she is. Without A Trace also focuses on the team members’ personal lives, which often show how their different experiences help them understand a case.

On the season finale of Without A Trace, a teenage girl disappeared after joining a cult. This season look for Buffy alum, James Marsters, to guest star. He will be playing a detective from Baltimore, who is called on by the FBI to assist on a case that deals with human trafficking. In other news, (spoiler warning) Poppy Montgomery’s real-life pregnancy will be written into the show. There is no word yet on who the father of her character Samantha’s baby will be.
Without A Trace seems to me like another run-of-the-mill police procedural. Each police drama seems to have some sort of a different angle than all the rest, but they all seem to be pretty much the same when you’re watching them. And when you’ve seen one, you’ve pretty much seen them all. From what I can tell, there is nothing particularly interesting or special about this particular show. That being said, the show is heading into its 6th season, so someone has to be watching it. If anyone reading this does watch the show, what do you like about it? What sets it apart from all other police procedurals?
