The Biggest Loser is a reality series that follows obese people as they try to lose weight by performing various physical tasks and get coached on better eating habits. Under the supervision of professional trainers Jillian Michaels and Bob Harper, the contestants go on the ultimate diet in an attempt to out-lose each other. Weekly weigh-ins help determine which contestants will be cut loose and which will stay on for another week.

This season will feature teams of families (eight teams of two family members – four husband-and-wife teams and ffour parent-adult child teams).
I love the whole idea of The Biggest Loser but it’s just not one of the reality series that I watch regularly. I have caught a few episodes and one thing that amazes and impresses me is the contestants’ willingness to show off their bodies so openly. I guess that's part of what they sign up for but considering we live in a culture where most of the bodies we see on TV are the toned and tanned kind, I have to give the BL contestants credit for putting themselves out there so openly. The “Families” twist sounds like an interesting way to change the show up a bit, similar to last season’s “Couples” theme. I can’t say that I’m all that excited about the new season because as I said, I’ve never been a regular viewer of the show but I might check out the season premiere to see if the new Families theme makes the series a bit more interesting.
