The Mentalist
is a new CBS drama series that stars Simon Baker and centers on Patrick Jane, an independent consultant that works for the California Bureau of Investigation (CBI) solving serious crimes by using his keen power of observation. He has a certain disregard for protocol and is somewhat of a celebrity having once made a pretty successful career by posing as a psychic. Jane’s good at what he does in solving numerous high-profile cases but his superior, Senior Agent Teresa Lisbon doesn’t always appreciate certain aspects of his personality, especially when it affects how she runs her unit.

This show looks like it might be a slightly more serious version of the USA series, Psych. I’m not normally a huge fan of investigation procedurals but between Simon Baker’s dreamy mug and the interesting back-story on his character, I’ll definitely be checking out the season premiere. In the meantime, here’s some clips from the season premiere as well as some clever promos that will help you test your own observational skills.
