Opportunity Knocks
is a new ABC game show in which families will have the opportunity to show off how well the know each other for the chance to win money and prizes. In each episode, a new family is featured. The show shows up on the family’s doorstep and announces that they’re getting the chance to play Opportunity Knocks. They set up a stage outside the family’s house so that the whole neighborhood can come out and watch from the audience like a huge block-party with a game show.

Each of the four family members playing the game takes a turn to answer questions. With each correct answer they accumulate money that goes into their winnings. They also have the chance to play for a big prize. At the end of the game, one family member has the chance to double their family’s winnings or go for broke by trying to win a quarter of a million dollars. If they opt to go for the big money, they risk losing everything.
The plus side to this show is that it looks like ABC is really going out of its way to customize each episode around the family that’s playing. I suppose with a show like this, that’ll be necessary if only to give viewers a reason to stay interested as this isn’t the type of game that we can play along with at home.
