Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader is a Fox game show in which contestants answer questions from elementary school textbooks. In each game, one contestant answers a variety of questions pulled from textbooks from grades first through fifth. There are two questions per grade and the player can answer the questions in any order. As they try to answer the questions, they are able to call on the fifth graders to assist them with the answers. With each correct answer they accumulate money and as they continue, they have the option to leave with the money they’ve accumulated or continue on. If the player answers the first ten questions correctly they have the opportunity to answer a bonus question worth $1,000,000. The goal is to bank as much money without answering a question incorrectly and flunking out.

I don’t think I’ve seen a single episode of this game show but my father speaks very highly of it so I think I’m going to have to check out tonight’s big season premiere. I’m kind of curious to see how difficult the questions are. I remember studying a lot of random stuff as a kid (dinosaurs, Native Americans, basic science) and I wonder how much of that information I’ve actually retained. Plus Jeff Foxworthy is funny.
