Army Wives is a drama series that centers on Roxy, a single mom who marries an Army guy she just met and has to adjust to life as an Army wife. She ends up making friends with a number of other Army wives (and one Army husband, Roland) at Fort Marshall, all of whom have their own drama going on. Roxy, Claudia, Denise, Joan and Pamela share all of their problems, including the deployments of their spouses, issues with their kids, infidelities, abuse and lots of other Lifetime-like drama.

Last season ended with a cliffhanger. When the group was getting together at a bar to wish Roland good look (he’s separated from his pregnant wife and moving to Chicago), the gossiping, adulterous Marilyn’s abusive husband (whom Marilyn decided to leave) shows up with explosives strapped to his chest and takes them all hostage. Will everyone make it out of the bar alive? Is Roland really leaving?
Ok, before today I’d never seen an episode of this series but a quick Youtube search resulted in a great video recap (posted below). I watched the entire almost-10 minute video and found myself instantly drawn in by it. Yeah, it looks like typical Lifetime stuff – Adultery, betrayal, secrets exposed, women in crisis, friendship, etc. but the military aspect of the series adds a bit of intrigue to the show. So I checked the listings and lo and behold, Lifetime’s airing an Army Wives marathon today! I had plans to actually go outside at some point today but now I’m hooked on this show about Army wives with too many problems. Lifetime strikes again! I’ve set the TiVo to season’s pass this (so that I don’t end up spending the entire day on the couch) but if the series continues to be as good as it looks from the video-recap and the episodes I’ve watched so far, I’m going to have to add Army Wives to my list of must-watch summer drama series.
