Created by Marshall Herskovitz and Edward Zwick (My So Called Life, thirtysomething), this series started out as a web series, featured on MySpace TV. The webisodes sparked enough interest to get the show onto network television. Some of the webisodes can be viewed on NBC’s website.

Quarterlife centers on Dylan (Tulloch), a 20-something girl who spends a good portion of her time video-blogging about her life. She also dishes the dirt on her friends Danny (Walton), Jed (Foster), Lisa (Schwartz), Andy (Christy) and Debra (Lombardo). The drama series digs into the relationships between the charactters as these young adults attempt to find their place in the “real world.”
As someone who was in love with My So Called Life when it originally aired back in the 90’s, I must admit that I’m very interested in seeing if quarterlife is on par with Herskowitz and Zwick’s earlier series. I caught a few of the webisodes and, while they did show promise, I couldn’t get a good handle on what direction the series was headed in. Sometimes the whole thing seemed very moody and dramatic and other times, it was lighter and more humorous. That said, I’ll definitely be tuning in to check out the pilot and I’ll probably even give the series a few episodes to hit it’s stride before I decide if it’s a keeper.
