2008 Winter TV Preview: Supernanny
Supernanny - Season 4
Premieres: Wednesday, January 2 at 9:00 p.m. EST
Network: ABC
Starring:: Jo Frost
Website: ABC.com
This reality series centers on various families coping with child-rearing issues. When things get out of hand, Jo Frost comes in to evaluate the family’s problems and help them work together to find a way to improve their situation. Whether it’s because the kids are just unruly, the parents aren’t communicating or the parent/child roles within the household are mixed up, these families have some serious problems.
Jo has a real talent for being able to see the whole picture, while at the same time also seeing each individual within the household and what role they play in all of the drama. Her other talent is finding a way to get the family to attempt to fix the things that aren’t working.

I tend to shy away from these types of shows. Part of it is due to the fact that I spend most of the episode wondering how much editing has been done to create the story of the episode. I question whether or not things are really as bad as they seem or whether or not things have genuinely been resolved by the end of the episode in the way that we’re meant to think they have.
That said, this is one of those shows that you can enjoy once in a while without having to commit to it week to week. Plus, I can’t help but admire Jo Frost for her patience and ability to stand up to these families and tell it like it is.
