90 Day Fiance Star Arrested For Possession Of Hundreds Of Pounds Of Marijuana
TLC's reality series 90 Day Fiancé is always good for some high-stakes drama due to its premise, but the show has never featured something quite like this. Jorge Nava, who was featured in a Season 4 episode of the series alongside his then-fiancé (and current wife) Anfisa, has been arrested for possession of marijuana, and we're talking about nearly 300 pounds of it. Suffice to say, the jail time Nava could see for this is far longer than the filming period for 90 Day Fiancé.
Jorge Nava was arrested in Arizona on Wednesday, February 7, following a traffic stop on I-40, and he was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale, transportation of marijuana for sale, and drug paraphernalia. The Arizona Department of Public Safety (via The Wrap) reported Nava had 293 pounds of high-grade marijuana seized from his vehicle, and the reality star was arranged and soon released after successfully posting a $25,000 bond. He is expected back in court on Friday, February 23, for his 2:00 p.m. hearing.
Those who watched Jorge Nava's time on 90 Day Fiancé know this isn't Nava's first run-in with the law. Prior to this incident, Nava had been charged and convicted of drug-trafficking, which presented difficulties when trying to rent an apartment to live in with his Russian-born fiancé Anfisa. Nava took a plea deal at the time of that first conviction, and was believed to be carrying on a legitimate gig as a medical marijuana dealer in California, although this arrest seems to suggest otherwise.
Jorge Nava's conviction was an onscreen issue in his 90 Day Fiancé episode, as the charge prevented Nava from providing his fiance Anfisa with the life she believed she was destined for when moving from Russia. The two temporarily separated, but later got married in a courthouse with a small ceremony. Since the episode's airing, Anfisa has gained a strong Instagram following, and frequently posts pictures on the platform of her doing various things. Interestingly, Anfisa's last post on Instagram was made the day before Jorge's arrest, and she has not posted since, which is a bit out of character for her:
Whether or not Jorge and Anfisa will stick it out through this latest drama remains to be seen, and it's worth pointing out that the two have been one of the most dramatic couples that 90 Day Fiancé has ever showcased. Their antics from the episode have spilled out into the real world, too, as some pretty odd stories have swirled around the couple. This includes Anfisa's Instagram-set allegations of spousal abuse to other allegations that the two didn't meet on Facebook as believed, but rather due to Anfisa working as an online cam model. If the two can weather the post-episode storm brought on by those and other claims, it's very possible they'll make it through Jorge's recent charges with their marriage intact.
90 Day Fiancé concluded Season 5 at the end of 2017, and while no release date has been given at this time, TLC has confirmed Season 6 is happening. For a look at some new shows coming in 2018, visit our midseason premiere guide.
