Carrie-Anne Moss Just Booked Another TV Show, But What About Jessica Jones?
Netflix's Jessica Jones burst onto the scene to widespread acclaim in 2015, and much of that success stemmed from the strength of the show's supporting cast. Chief among these performers was Carrie-Anne Moss, whose portrayal of high-powered attorney Jeri Hogarth made her both an invaluable asset to Jessica, as well as a potential threat. Moss has remained a fixture in the Jones corner of the MCU for quite some time, but now it looks like The Matrix star is also about to make the jump to the upcoming Norwegian series, Wisting.
Carrie-Anne Moss is doing something outside of the mean streets of New York, but it doesn't sound like her next project will be any brighter or more cheerful. Taking on the role of an FBI agent sent to Norway, Wisting will follow Moss' character as she travels to the Scandinavian country to hunt down an American serial killer hiding away from law enforcement. The drama's first season will run for 10 episodes and pair Moss up with Norwegian actor Sven Nordin as a homicide detective who is also on the hunt for this mysterious killer.
One thing not noted in the THR report announcing Carrie-Anne Moss' involvement in Wisting is how it will influence her tenure as Jeri Hogarth in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Jeri is a fundamental element of the Jessica Jones world, and Moss' reduced availability naturally raises questions about her involvement. Having said that, it sounds like Wisting has already begun production on its 10-episode season, and Season 2 of Jessica Jones is already in the can and ready to release next weekend on March 8.
This means that Season 3 of Jessica Jones is still a long way off, and Moss will likely only need a short period to shoot cameos for shows like The Defenders or Daredevil. In layperson's terms, this means that she can probably still make it work, and her presence on another show shouldn't necessarily preclude her from remaining part of the MCU. Just look at how many films The Punisher's Jon Bernthal appeared in between Daredevil Season 2 and the debut of his solo series.
With all of that said, we here at CinemaBlend will keep you posted with more updates related to Carrie-Anne Moss' involvement in Wisting, as well as her presence in the Defenders universe as more information is made available to us. For now, make sure to catch Moss' most recent tenure as Hogarth when Jessica Jones Season 2 debuts next Friday on March 8 on Netflix.
