When America's Got Talent Season 13 And World Of Dance Season 2 Will Premiere
NBC is one of the most exciting places to be during the summer months thanks to its reality TV shows. Now, the Peacock Network has officially announced when exactly two of its biggest hits will return to the airwaves: America's Got Talent and World of Dance. Luckily for fans of the two shows, they'll both be back on the exact same night in May.
America's Got Talent and World of Dance will both premiere their latest seasons on Tuesday, May 29. The two-hour America's Got Talent Season 13 premiere event will kick off at 8 p.m. ET and run until 10 p.m. ET. World of Dance Season 2 will pick up immediately after with a one-hour episode starting at 10 p.m. ET. Although fans still have nearly three months to wait for the shows to hit the airwaves once more, at least they're premiering early in the summer TV season.
We can be sure that NBC is hoping that these two shows together help keep the network on top this summer. NBC has come out on top in the ratings game for the past seven consecutive summers, with consistently high numbers in the valuable 18-49 age demographic. The last three summers have seen NBC on top with viewership as well.
Season 13 of America's Got Talent will bring back all four judges from Season 12: Simon Cowell, Mel B, Heidi Klum, and Howie Mandel. Tyra Banks will be back as host as well, having replaced former host Nick Cannon ahead of Season 13. The numbers for Season 12 -- which saw a 12-year-old singing ventriloquist take the top prize -- were solid, averaging a 3.5 rating in the 18-49 age demographic and 16 million overall viewers when Live+7 day calculations were tallied, making it the most-watched season of the entire series to date.
As for World of Dance, it came out quite strong during its freshman season and became the summer's #1 new show in 2017. In Live+7 day tallies, Season 1 saw an average rating of 2.6 in the 18-49 demo and 10.1 million overall viewers, which isn't too shabby for a new season. Of course, it boasted big names like Jennifer Lopez, Ne-Yo, and Jenna Dewan Tatum, all of whom may have attracted viewers.
World of Dance and America's Got Talent weren't the only shows to receive premiere dates from NBC. Season 7 of American Ninja Warrior will debut on NBC on Wednesday, May 30 from 8-10 p.m. ET, then move to Mondays starting on June 18. Running Wild with Bear Grylls will premiere on Wednesday, May 30 at 10 p.m. ET. All things considered, NBC is shaping up to maintain a solid block of reality programming over the summer.
Summer is still months away, however. If you need some ideas of what to watch in the meantime, be sure to swing by our midseason TV premiere guide, our 2018 Netflix premiere schedule, and our 2018 Amazon Prime rundown.
