Why Jessica Jones Is Different From Working On Other Marvel Shows For Carrie-Anne Moss
It's an exciting time for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While still reeling from the wild breakaway success of Ryan Coogler's Black Panther, the TV side of things is having a major moment as well. After over two years of waiting, the second season of Jessica Jones finally arrived on Netflix. Fans have been eagerly waiting a return to Jessica' noir-inspired world, including the fantastic cast of supporting characters. Carrie-Anne Moss' Jeri Hogarth is one highlight, after she popped up to do some world building in shows like Iron Fist and The Defenders. I recently asked Moss what those unique experiences were like, and she revealed why she's so excited to be jumping back into Jessica Jones Season 2.
While Jeri Hogarth may have affected the events of the shared universe, Iron Fist, Daredevil, and The Defenders couldn't do anything challenging the character. Jessica Jones' sophomore season finally allows a renewed focus on Carrie-Anne Moss' MCU character, which should also excite fans of the original season.
Aside from Rosario Dawson's Claire Temple, Jeri Hogarth is one of Netflix's Marvel characters who has popped up in the most crossover moments. She really came to bat for Danny Rand in Iron Fist's first season, providing him with an ally when he had almost none. She also made a brief appearance on Daredevil's second season, hiring Foggy onto her firm. The Defenders saw Jeri and the rest of JJ's supporting characters make an appearance, with Jeri inadvertently guiding Matt Murdock towards Jessica.
After all those cameos, it makes sense that Carrie-Anne Moss would be excited to really dive back into Jeri Hogarth in Jessica Jones Season 2. The return to the original series will allow characters like Jeri, Trish, and Malcolm to continue to grow and develop, as the focus finally returns to their development. The second season is available now, and the changes in Jeri can be seen from the very first episode. The stone cold badass is having a change of power and status, and it seems like it'll uproot everything we thought we knew about the fan favorite.
Jeri Hogarth had a pretty rough run by the end of Jessica Jones Season 1, especially after being influenced by Kilgrave. She nearly died when the villain ordered her ex-wife Wendy to kill her, with Jeri's mistress ultimately saving the lawyer and killing Wendy in the process. She's ultimately lost the two biggest people in her life, opening up for some fascinating twists and turns in Season 2.
The first two season of Jessica Jones are currently streaming on Netflix, complete with Carrie-Anne Moss' fantastic Jeri Hogarth.
