Kevin Smith Will Actually Appear On The Flash Soon

Kevin Smith ABC's speechless

Kevin Smith is well-known as an avid DC fan, and he has even had the opportunity to work in the small screen DC world on some of The Flash's most exciting episodes. He's also about to get in on the action in an even bigger way by stepping in front of the camera for an upcoming Flash episode. And what's more, it'll be alongside his longtime collaborator Jason Mewes. During an episode of Fatman on Batman hosted at SXSW, the Clerks director said:

So this time around, there's a scene that had two security guards in it, and so the writers of the episode -- Kristen [Kim] and Lauren [Certo] -- Kristen asked me specifically. 'We're wondering, do you think you and Jay would want to play the security guards?' And honestly, I did not want to do it, because I knew it required I'd wear pants. . . . I knew if I was playing a part, where I wasn't being me, I had to be the security guard; I couldn't be the security guard in jorts. They probably would cut that. So I knew I'd have to wear an outfit and shit, which included pants. So I was like 'Oh fuck, I don't wanna do it.' But I knew if I said no, from the other guy, I'd never hear the end of it. 'Cause he'd go, 'We had a chance to be on a fucking Flash together, and you didn't fucking take it!' So I said 'Alright, we'll do it.' And they suited us up as security guards, and for the first time I think since my father died, I wore dress pants.

So it sounds like Kevin Smith wasn't initially keen on stepping in front of the camera for The Flash episode "Null and Annoyed." Though he admittedly seems to be joking about the whole pants situation, he also makes it clear that Jason Mewes (who already had another cameo on a previous episode) was able to convince him that it was an opportunity that they needed to take advantage of while they had it. As a result, Smith agreed to bring one of cinema's least security guard-like duos to the Arrow-verse as security guards, pants and all.

Despite the fun prospect of Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes re-teaming for some cameos on The Flash, it won't be a straight Jay and Silent Bob adventure in the literal sense. (Though we do have that movie coming, hopefully.) That said, the cameo moment will still share some similarities to their classic characters. Smith continued during his episode of Fatman on Batman and explained:

It's not 'Jay and Silent Bob,' but Jason speaks, and I don't. But it was fun. It was a good fucking time.

The Flash airs every Tuesday night at 8 p.m. ET on The CW, so make sure to keep an eye out for Kevin Smith's upcoming episode, which doesn't yet have its airdate locked down!
