One Arrow-verse Hero Who Will Join Legends Of Tomorrow If Season 4 Happens
Legends Of Tomorrow is getting down to the wire when it comes to Season 3, and now we know which popular Arrow-verse hero is set to join the Waverider should the show get renewed for Season 4. Hold on to all your British, trench coat-wearing, occult-loving hats, because Constantine is heading to Legends of Tomorrow full time.
The CW announced today that the current plan is for Matt Ryan to bring Constantine back to Legends of Tomorrow in Season 4. Of course, the major, major caveat here is that Legends of Tomorrow needs to be granted another season for this to happen. As it stands right now, we don't actually know, and The CW will not confirm, that the time-traveling superhero show is, indeed, getting renewed. So, while the news of Constantine heading to Legends on a permanent basis is certainly a big deal for fans of the hero, we still have some time to wait and see if we'll actually get to watch him casting spells and driving out supernatural baddies on the network regularly.
Matt Ryan's Constantine has had a remarkable path in the past few years. After getting his own, eponymous, show on NBC for the 2014-2015 television season, the series was cancelled after 13 episodes and the rabid fanbase that was so happy to see the character jump from DC comics to the small screen was likely left praying to a host of demons to try to get the show back. Their prayers were answered when Arrow stepped in and secured the character, and actor Matt Ryan, for an appearance on the show in late 2015, which ignited hope among fans for the cancelled supernatural drama to come back.
While that didn't happen, The CW's Arrow-verse took the hint and has been able to give fans more Constantine than they probably thought was possible. Not only did the network secure the character for his own, new, animated show set to debut this Saturday on CW Seed, but the good people behind Legends of Tomorrow were able to find a way to bring him, and some supernatural shenanigans, to the Waverider in Season 3. Constantine has already appeared in the midseason premiere, and he's also set to show up in the final two episodes of Season 3 to continue the Legends' fight against the demon Mallus.
Clearly, fans are chomping at their demon-hating bits to get more of Matt Ryan as Constantine, and seeing him fully come on board as one of the Legends will seal that deal (at least for a time), as long as Legends of Tomorrow does get an order for Season 4. And, it seems likely that it's a good bet that will happen, since there'd be no point in The CW letting us know about his potential status as a series regular otherwise. Though, with the modern TV landscape being the tricky place that it is, we can't be sure any of this will happen until The CW publicly decrees it, so we shall see.
Until we know for sure whether or not Matt Ryan and Constantine will be joining the rest of the Waverider team for a possible Legends of Tomorrow Season 4, be sure to check out Constantine on CW Seed on March 24.
