24: Live Another Day Premiere Date Set For May, Yvonne Strahovski Joins Cast

Jack Bauer will live another day on Monday, May 5. Fox finally announced the premiere date of their anticipated event series 24: Live Another Day, along with word that Chuck’s Yvonne Strahovski has joined the cast. Fox also announced the premiere dates for their new comedy Surviving Jack and drama Gang Related.

First, here are the newly announced premiere dates for later this year:

Surviving Jack - premieres Thursday, March 27 at 8:30 p.m.

24: Live Another Day - premieres with a 2-hour episode on Monday, May 5 at 8:00 p.m. (time period premiere is May 12 at 9:00 p.m.)

Gang Related - premieres Tuesday, May 20 at 9:00 p.m. ET

Of the three series, 24: Live Another Day is likely to be the most anticipated, considering the massive fan base of the thriller, eagerly awaiting the return of Kiefer Sutherland’s terrorist-thwarting Jack Bauer. May 5 isn’t exactly next month, but it’s not that far away, all things considered. In terms of Strahovski’s involvement, Fox's announcement says nothing about who she’ll be playing in the event series, only that she’s among the cast. Still, it’s exciting news for those who loved her in Chuck or the later seasons of Dexter. She joins fellow newcomers Giles Mathey, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Michael Wincott and Judy Davis. As for who’s set to return, in addition to Sutherland, 24 stars Mary Lynn Rajskub, Kim Raver and William Devane.

24 may have a pre-built fan base, but so do Bill Lawrence (Scrubs) and Christopher Meloni (Law & Order: SVU). Lawrence is an executive producer on Surviving Jack, which is co-created by Justin Halpern and stars Chris Meloni as the titular Jack, a “man becoming a dad, as his son (Connor Buckley) becomes a man.” Did we mention it’s set in the 90s? ABC has The Goldbergs, Fox has Surviving Jack. Also Chris Meloni.

Finally, there’s the new action-drama Gang Related, which joins the slate late in May and should help keep Fox’s original programming slate running as their other dramas and comedies (and American Idol) wind down for the season. The series stars Ramon Rodriguez as Ryan Lopez, “a rising star in Los Angeles’ elite Gang Task Force.” Terry O’Quinn (Lost) plays Sam Chapel, the leader of the Task Force. And RZA plays Cassius Green, another Task Force member who teams up with Lopez to take down the city’s most dangerous gangs, “including one that he swore an allegiance to as a boy.” Sounds suspenseful! And Lost fans may be lured in by the appearance of Terry O’Quinn, whose last steady gig on the small screen was a lead in ABC’s short-lived 666 Park Avenue. Since then, he reunited with Lost’s Daniel Dae Kim for a recurring spot in Hawaii Five-0. He also recurred in TNT’s Falling Skies.
