13 Reasons Why’s Full Season 2 Trailer Shows Twists, Turns, And Hannah
It's no secret that Netflix is producing a massive amount of original content. Since becoming such a juggernaut in the TV world, the streaming service has also taken to cancelling its less successful shows. One series that seems here to stay is 13 Reasons Why, which is also one of the most controversial Netflix shows. Despite conversation around its subject matter, a quick renewal was made for Season 2. It's been unclear how the show might function now that Hannah's tapes have been heard by the full cast, but a full trailer just hit, and it seems we're only at the tip of the iceberg.
The drama at Liberty High School may be darker than we originally anticipated, which is saying a lot. Because while Season 1 focused on the victimization of Hannah Baker and her suicide, it appears that she wasn't the only victim of the school's cruelty and history with sexual assault. What's more: there's someone out there mailing photos to people.
The fallout from the Season 1 finale can be felt immediately, although Clay hoped that perhaps the worst of the drama was behind them. But the details around Hannah's suicide are still being pursued by her parents, who now have the tapes to help back up their lawsuit against the school and possibly even the ability to enact criminal charges for Bryce. The trailer also shows Jessica on the stand, and bullies in the school attempting to intimidate her and challenge her credibility.
All of this is only possible because it's clear that serial rapist and all around a-hole Bryce isn't alone. There appears to be some sort of the group within the school who assault female students, and even take polaroid photos of the attacks. These photos will be the new macguffin for Season 2, as it can no longer follow the structure of Hannah's tapes.
Another new dynamic introduced is how Clay is having visions of Hannah. This is a great way to keep series lead Katherine Langford apart of the show, along with flashbacks to when she was still alive. Seeing Hannah seems to really be messing him up, and it looks like the vision of her is encouraging him to get to the bottom of the photos. This will put him back danger, and it looks like Clay is going to get beat up a few more times before the season ends.
13 Reasons Why's new trailer also seemingly answers from the Season 1 cliffhanger finale. There are quite a few shots Justin Foley, meaning he ultimately came back to town after running away. Parenthood alum Miles Heizer is also briefly shown as Alex, meaning the character survived the suicide attempt we were told about during the finale. But he does have a cane, so Alex's attempt at his own life will have some lasting physical and emotional consequences. Finally, Tyler is shown introducing Clay to some guns, which is terrifying.
13 Reasons Why will return to Netflix for Season 2 on May 18th, 2018. In the meantime, check out our midseason premiere list to plan your next binge watch. Plus our superhero premiere list and Amazon premiere list to ensure you don't miss a single episode.
