Why Fans Think Khal Drogo Might Be Coming Back To Game Of Thrones
It's depressing to think about, but Game of Thrones will soon come to an end. HBO's fantasy drama is currently in production for its eighth and final season on the air, and the pressure is on to deliver a satisfying conclusion to Westeros' story. Showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss must give each of the large ensemble of characters a proper ending, and we're likely going to see plenty of more horrifying deaths. Fans are also hoping that Jason Momoa's Khal Dogo returns in some way or another. While this has been denied a few times, the rumors once again kicked up thanks to an image of Momoa alongside Benioff and Weiss. Check it out.
While anything but a confirmation, you can tell that Jason Momoa is having fun with the Game of Thrones audience. This picture with David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, alongside his cryptic caption and hashtags, are enough to send most GoT fans through the roof. We've already seen Khal Drogo appear to Dany once, so why not bring this macguffin back for the final season?
Jason Momoa'a Instagram post is only going to help increase fan excitement for him to finally return for Game of Thrones. He was last seen on screen back in Season 2, when Dany was navigating through the House of the Undying to find her dragons. She has a vision that fans have been dissecting since it appeared, including Dany walking through a charred and destroyed version of King's Landing's Great Hall and the Iron Throne. She also gets to speak with Khal Drogo and their unborn child, and truly grieve the loss she experienced during the Season 1 finale.
There are a ton of fan theories revolving around Dany's vision. Some fans believe that it could be a prophecy, with Khaleesi eventually burning down King's Landing in order to finally conquer Westeros. If this is the case, perhaps Dany could have another vision of Khal Drogo, therefore giving fans one final glimpse of the beloved Dothraki warrior.
Bringing Jason Momoa back in for another appearance as Khal Drogo also makes sense given the climb his career has taken since appearing on Game of Thrones. Momoa has been working consistently, most notably starring as Aquaman in the DC Extended Universe. He's got his own solo movie coming out this December, so it would be great timing to bring him back for another moment in GoT.
