Legends Of Tomorrow's Keiynan Lonsdale Is Leaving The Arrow-verse
The Arrow-verse on The CW is the home to many superheroes by this point, and there seems to be a place for just about anybody in the ranks of at least one of the four shows. Keiynan Lonsdale, who plays Wally West, started off on The Flash before moving over to Legends of Tomorrow as a series regular. Unfortunately for fans of Lonsdale's take on Wally West, a.k.a. Kid Flash, he won't be around for very long in the 2018-2019 TV season. Lonsdale will leave the Arrow-verse after the Season 5 premiere of The Flash.
Keiynan Lonsdale will depart the Arrow-verse after appearing in the first episode of The Flash's fifth season. The CW confirms to CinemaBlend that Lonsdale will not return as a series regular on either The Flash or Legends of Tomorrow. However the shows of the Arrow-verse carry on in the 2018-2019 season, Wally West won't have a major part to play. Given that Wally didn't have a huge role on The Flash Season 4 prior to moving over to Legends of Tomorrow and only moved over to Legends halfway through its third season, fans will undoubtedly be disappointed that there will be no further chances for Wally to get more screen time. That said, a return for Wally West at some point has not been ruled out, which bodes well for The Flash as well as Legends of Tomorrow.
In the Season 4 finale of The Flash, Wally popped up to welcome his new baby sister home after Cecile finally gave birth. That episode ended on the reveal that Barry and Iris' daughter -- and therefore Wally's niece -- travelled from the future for some undetermined reason, so Wally would have plenty of reasons to return to The Flash as well as Legends of Tomorrow as a guest star. It would make sense that Wally is still around in the Season 5 premiere, assuming at least some of the action picks up right after the cliffhanger. A lot may depend on the manner in which Wally is written out at the beginning of Legends Season 4.
The CW also confirms that Wally will not be killed off in his appearance in the Flash season premiere and the door will remain open for Keiynan Lonsdale to reprise his role as Wally West if the right storyline comes along for him. Viewers can rest easy knowing that even if Lonsdale won't be back as a regular, the end is not nigh for Wally as a character. Given his very close ties to characters on The Flash and now his friends on the Waverider on Legends of Tomorrow, surely we'll see him again at some point!
We'll have to wait and see. Although The Flash is staying in its regular time slot, Legends of Tomorrow is moving to a new night in the 2018-2019 season, so be sure to check out The CW's fall schedule for the available details. Constantine will be on board, so perhaps his presence will help fans cope with Wally's absence. Our summer TV premiere guide can point you toward your viewing options while we wait for superheroes to return to The CW.
