While there are not a lot of details currently available, we do know what it will be about. The new live-action show will be set in the future and revolve around a young assassin living in a dystopian state.
In a hopeful sign for the world, she teams up with a group of rebel biohackers to save humanity, becoming the heroine Aeon Flux. The key words in THR's description are "as she becomes," which intimates the possibility of an origin story approach to the character's journey.
The original animated series ran for three seasons on MTV during the 1990s. If the live-action series gets the green light, it would not be the first time Aeon Flux has gotten the live-action treatment. In 2005, the animated series served as the source for a live-action, sci-fi action movie starring Charlize Theron in the title role. The film did not do great at the box office, and a sequel never materialized. The Walking Dead's Gale Anne Hurd was one of the producers on the movie.
While the film adaptation was not met with widespread success, a television series could offer a welcome change of pace. In short, television may be the best platform to explore this character.
