Emilia Clarke Said Goodbye To Game Of Thrones In A Heartfelt Way
Game of Thrones Season 8 is still months (or even potentially a year) away from airing on HBO, but the epic drama's principal filming appears to be completely finished. Photos have surfaced on the web of what looks to be a giant wrap party, and now actress Emilia Clarke has taken to Instagram to bid her own personal farewell to the series. Clarke uploaded a picture of herself in Northern Ireland, along with a heartfelt message that could've even moved Cersei to feel something:
Emilia Clarke is saying goodbye to the HBO drama after nearly a decade of portraying the Mother of Dragons, and the ending of Game of Thrones has never felt more real. It's certainly bittersweet to read her words, although the silver lining is that Game of Thrones completing the filming process means it's that much closer to hitting the airwaves, though only after a complicated and stressful post-production period. Unfortunately, Clarke doesn't appear to have snuck any secret Game of Thrones spoilers or clues into her farewell message, which possibly had to get proofread and approved by the series' showrunners, considering how crazy they've been regarding secrets.
That said, Cersei herself Lena Headey gave a lovely shout out to Emilia Clarke for her post, and the way she worded things certainly makes it sound like exciting things are coming to Game of Thrones in Season 8.
"HOLY Balls" indeed, Lena Headey. Methinks crazy things will happen between the two characters before someone finally takes the throne for good.
Emilia Clarke's farewell to Game of Thrones came at the end of what appears to be a wild weekend for the actress, and many could argue that a trip to Northern Ireland was the least exciting part. The actress was with a friend in Manchester for Jay-Z and Beyonce's On The Run II Tour stop just two days prior, and she seems to have had a blast watching Queen Bey and Hova perform. If that wasn't enough, Clarke had a picture from the very next night where she was posing with co-stars Conleth Hill and John Bradley, as well as showrunner Dan Weiss, at a Belfast performance by former Oasis co-head Liam Gallagher.
Daenerys chilling with Samwell Tarly and Varys the day before saying goodbye to Game of Thrones is certainly interesting, and may potentially mean that all three stick it out until the show's very end. That said, Conleth Hill's hair looks grown enough to indicate he may have completed his scenes for the smooth-topped Varys some time ago; or else he's just really skilled at growing his hair quickly. John Bradley is looking pretty similar to Sam in the picture, which could be a good sign for that character's fate. Although to be fair, Bradley often looks like his character's shorter-haired iteration when out in public.
Game of Thrones Season 8 is headed to HBO at some point in 2019.
