Last year, USA thrilled Psych fans with a TV movie and, as one would expect, talk of a sequel quickly kicked off. Well, that sequel is still in the works at USA. The thing is, fans may have to wait a while before they see Shawn and Gus take on a new mystery. That's because production on the movie has had to be delayed and for a good reason, especially for its cast.

Psych leads James Roday and Dulé Hill's work schedules are very busy. Roday is starring in ABC's new fall drama A Million Little Things, and Hill is now a series regular on USA's legal drama Suits. So while the sequel was tentatively set to begin filming later this year, that start date is going to be delayed accordingly, per TVLine. When the sequel could potentially start filming given its stars' schedules remains a mystery.

You do not have to be psychic to know that this is not the news that fans may have wanted to hear. Albeit, the reason for the delay means Psych's leads are working and in-demand, which is a great thing fans are likely to rejoice about. So while they may not be seeing James Roday and Dulé Hill reprise their roles on Psych in the immediate future, they can see them on other television shows.

The production delay will push back the premiere of the Psych sequel. Fans of the show have had to endure patient waits before. When the series ended its eight season-run in 2014, viewers had to wait three years until the first Psych movie, aptly entitled Psych: The Movie premiered. Things have been moving pretty quickly with the sequel. The first movie premiered in December 2017 and with filming originally slated to begin later this year that would have put the sequel's theoretical premiere date sometime in 2019.

However long the wait, the Psych movie sequel will be worth it. Plus, the delay should not be too terrible. It all depends on when cameras roll though. Nearly twelve years since the show premiered on USA back in 2006 and four years since the show ended, fans and the series' cast and crew remain devoted to keeping the show alive. It is a pretty beautiful thing. So take heart! When it comes to Pysch, patience always pays off.

Until the Psych movie sequel premieres, you can check out James Roday in A Million Little Things when it premieres this fall on ABC and Dulé Hill on Suits Season 8 when the show returns July 18 on USA.
