Selena Gomez Had A Mini Wizards Of Waverly Place Reunion For July 4th

Wizards of Waverly Place will likely go down as one of the most beloved original series in Disney Channel history, and it is responsible for launching Selena Gomez into stardom as an actress and singer. Unfortunately for fans, the series only ran for four seasons, ending in 2012, and aside from a one-hour TV special in 2013, the Russo family hasn't been seen. Selena Gomez had a mini Wizards of Waverly Place for the 4th of July that reunited her with one her former castmates. Take a look!

Selena Gomez and David Henrie staged a Russo family reunion at Disneyland for July 4, which took the two former co-stars and TV siblings back to Disney on an American holiday. Gomez named Henrie as one of her "favorite people" in the caption, so Wizards of Waverly Place fans should be happy to see some enduring friendship between the two. This was actually one of three very similar photos of the duo sitting down and sharing some snacks at Disneyland. She captioned one as "Family vacation vibes" and the other as "Brudder & sissy." Can we all just saw "Awwww" right about now? Who could have predicted such Wizards of Waverly Place cuteness all these years after the show ended?

In case there was any doubt that there are still plenty of Wizards of Waverly Place fans with lingering love for the Russo family, the attention Selena Gomez's post has gotten should prove that there are still a lot of people invested in the series. After only 14 hours online, Gomez's Instagram pic has been liked by more than five million users. The two other pics have accumulated more than 4 million and more than 3 million likes as well. Perhaps Wizards of Waverly Place fans are so hungry for more Russo family fun that these photos were the best kind of holiday treat!

Now that television is in an era of reboots, reunions, and revivals, the Selena Gomez/David Henrie reunion at Disneyland will undoubtedly lead folks to wonder if a Wizards of Waverly Place revival or TV special could happen at Disney Channel. That's So Raven scored a revival, and Kim Possible is getting a redo; why not Wizards of Waverly Place with whatever members of the original show have the time and willingness to return? Gomez and Henrie at least are on good terms, and I'm sure plenty of fans would tune in to Disney channel to see more of the Russo sibs and the rest of the cast getting into shenanigans once more.

Who knows? Maybe a Wizards of Waverly Place revival/reunion could even incorporate characters from Hannah Montana and The Suite Life on Deck. Those three shows did a crossover back in 2009, and perhaps some of those characters would be willing to pop up, although the Sprouse brothers might not be on board. . All of this said, we shouldn't count on Wizardly of Waverly Place returning to the small screen, let alone incorporating characters from other Disney Channel shows, but it's fun to speculate.

Besides, it's not as though Selena Gomez is wanting for work. Her career in showbiz is still going strong, and her on-again/off-again relationship with Justin Bieber has guaranteed that she's in the limelight for her personal life as well. Throw in her uplifting messages about body positivity and her openness about her health struggles, and Gomez may not have time to do much more than hang out with her Wizards of Waverly Place pals from time to time.

We'll have to wait and see. For some shows you can watch now and in the not-too-distant future, check out our summer TV premiere schedule.
