Watch Amy Poehler And Nick Offerman Get Into A Pun-Off For New Series
Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman first made audiences laugh when they co-starred on Parks and Rec, and judging from this digital short promoting their upcoming NBC craft competition series Making It, they're primed to make people laugh all over again. The two get into a craft-based pun-off in a short and sweet video filmed on a picturesque patio, and things get goofy pretty quick:
Hopefully, no one busted a "stitch" laughing at Nick Offerman and Amy Poehler's jokes, as they must have been "sew" funny to anyone in the crafting community. To the actors' credit, the puns were silly enough that even someone completely out of the loop when it comes to the "maker" world might have had a slight chuckle, especially the bit Offerman had about wanting to lay down and "D.I.Y." Of course, anyone involved in the community and familiar with all these crafts might appreciate the jokes just that much more, which may encourage them to set down their tools for just a bit to check out Making It's premiere Tuesday, July 31.
Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman traded some solid jabs back and forth, and it's really hard to say who definitively won the Making It pun-off. While Poehler, unsurprisingly, had some of the more clever lines of the exchange, Offerman's deadpan delivery is the ultimate way to elevate just about any funny thing that comes out of his mouth. That said, Poehler was funny enough to make Offerman break his stone-faced demeanor at least a couple times on camera, so it only feels right to declare her the winner of this short but sweet showdown.
If this Making It feature proved anything, it showed that Nick Offerman and Amy Poehler's dynamic works outside of Parks and Rec, and will make for lots of entertainment when the show kicks off. The comedic value they'll add is immeasurable, although it goes without saying that Offerman's well-known skills as a craftsman will almost certainly be a strength to the series as well. It's certainly not the "Ron and Leslie" based spin-off fans may have envisioned, but there's no denying the two hosting a craft competition show should entice even the people who can't cut in a straight line. Additionally, a show where cool things are created is great for inspiring others to create things less handy people can purchase, so everyone wins.
As mentioned, Making It premieres on NBC Tuesday, July 31 at 10:00 p.m. ET. Those excited for the show's premiere to the point they don't know how they'll pass the time should head over to our summer premiere guide and check out what other shows are coming to the service.
