The 100 Star Marie Avgeropoulos Was Arrested For Domestic Violence
The 100's Octavia Blake has been known for her aggressive behavior on The CW series, and it appears some of that character's tendencies have poured over to the actress who portrays her, Marie Avgeropoulos. The star found herself arrested and behind bars following an encounter with police in L.A. Avgeropoulos was booked for felony domestic violence, after what authorities say began as a dispute with her boyfriend.
According to police, the incident began when they responded to a call placed early on Sunday, August 5. Authorities state the man called from inside a car and claimed he had been hit by his girlfriend, Marie Avgeropoulos, in the aftermath of a verbal dispute. TMZ reported that the boyfriend had marks on his body, which ultimately resulted in Avgeropoulos going to jail. The actress' mugshot showed she had tears on her cheeks, as well as a small gash above her left eyebrow.
Sources at the scene alleged the boyfriend did not wish to have Marie Avgeropoulos taken to jail for the incident, and claimed the Canadian couple was unfamiliar with American laws and did not know the call would result in Avgeropoulos' arrest. Furthermore, it's said the boyfriend begged police not to take her away, and immediately posted the $50,000 bond required to get her freed. At this time, it's being reported that the boyfriend does not wish to press charges.
As far as what caused The 100's Marie Avgeropoulos to react the way she did, an unnamed source alleged alcohol was a factor. Supposedly, Avgeropoulos is taking a new medication and mixed it with wine during that evening's dinner.
The actress has been active on social media since her arrest, although she has not posted to her Twitter or Instagram account since the news reached the public. Neither the CW nor The 100 have mentioned the incident as of this writing, so it's unknown if this will have any impact on her presence on the show. The 100 was renewed for Season 6 back in May, despite posting ratings in Season 5 that easily could've justified the series' cancellation, so there's a hardcore fanbase out there that probably wants to see Octavia Blake back for more.
The 100 hasn't released Season 5 on Netflix just yet, but Seasons 1-4 are currently available on the platform.
