First Look At The Fosters Spinoff Good Trouble Is Emotional And Exciting
While fans had to bid The Fosters a bittersweet goodbye recently, they have been able to take solace in the knowledge that a spinoff of the beloved series was in the works. Now they can catch their first glimpse of the new show, which features Callie and Mariana front and center. In the clip, The Fosters and Good Trouble co-creator Peter Paige discusses the spinoff series, as footage from the show unspools. See it for yourself below:
That was quite a peek! The spinoff is set to be comprised of thirteen episodes, and the teaser footage indicates that viewers are in for an emotional ride. As Mariana and Callie excitedly make their way to Los Angeles. It will not all be fun though as the teaser footage shows Mariana in tears at one point. Unfortunately, fans will have a while to wait before they will get to see what is going on. At least, Callie and Mariana have each other to lean on.
The clips from Good Trouble are brief, although they give fans a concise feel for the series. The show is set years in the future as Mariana and Callie make their way in Los Angeles, each forging different paths in the world, while they share a home together. The spinoff should be a treat for fans of The Fosters as well as new viewers who may be diving into The Fosters universe for the first time.
For fans missing the characters they love from the original series, there is no reason to despair. The plan is for the spinoff to include guest appearances from all of the characters from the mothership series, per TVLine. The producer of both shows, Peter Paige, previously revealed that the reason he wanted to do the spinoff was to preserve the family among the living. So, it makes sense that they would pop up in the spinoff.
Based on the first look alone, it is clear that fans have a lot to look forward to when The Fosters spinoff premieres. It seems as though the new show is set up to feel like a pretty seamless continuation of the original. Such is the case when a spinoff revolves around characters fans are familiar with and care about following. Fans have watched Mariana and Callie prepare for adulthood as they came of age on The Fosters, and now they can see them "adulting" out in the world.
Good Trouble is going to be an emotional and exciting series. The spinoff will premiere in January 2019 on Freeform.
