We Finally Know More About Grey's Anatomy's New (Mc)Dreamy Doc
There are long running TV shows, and then there's ABC's Grey's Anatomy. The beloved medical drama is currently gearing up for its whopping 15th season on the network, and will be seeing a few changes in its cast. With April and Arizona written off, room has been made for new actors, including a dreamy new Orthopedic Surgeon. Nashville alum Chris Carmack is playing the mysterious surgeon so far only known as Link, and will take the position left at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital when Callie departed a few years back. Grey's showrunner Krista Vernoff recently teased what this newcomer will bring to the table, saying:
Well, this is certainly exciting. While the men of Grey's Anatomy haven't always been the most mature guys on TV, they've gotten decidedly more serious in the past few years. Link will help change that, and breathe some fresh life into the halls of the hospital.
Part of the fun of Grey's Anatomy is seeing the surgeons banter, and their immaturity in the face of life or death situations. But as the scrappy group of original interns matured, and the characters all became adults with kids, the silliness was pulled back. But new characters can help change the dynamic of the show, which is what Chris Carmack should do with his mysterious Link.
In her same conversation with TV Line, Krista Vernoff also explained the importance of Link's role in the greater hospital. After all, it's been years since Grey Sloan Memorial lost its ortho head Callie when Sara Ramirez shockingly left Grey's back in Season 12.
It looks like Grey's Anatomy is going to get another bone setting badass when it returns for its highly anticipated Season 15. Grey's has always been a show that focused on its characters' personal and professional lives, and many of the series regulars have ascended to the hospital's board. But Callie Torres is the only main character to show a special interest in ortho, so it'll be fun to see a new dynamic in the OR. And if Link is going to be as charming and funny as Krista Vernoff is teasing, then he'll probably annoy the hell out of some of the more cynical characters like Meredith or Bailey.
Fans will be privy to more information when Grey's Anatomy returns to ABC for its two hour premiere on September 27, 2018.
